Your institution owns its data. LeonEd processes it only to provide the school management service your school has signed up for.
01 Data Encryption
- All data transmitted within the LeonEd ecosystem is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3, the industry standard.
- Sensitive academic and financial records are protected at rest with AES-256 encryption.
02 Access Transparency
- LeonEd maintains strict audit logs of all administrative actions.
- Super Admins can monitor activity across the whole system.
- Access to individual student data is restricted to authorized school personnel.
03 Data Sovereignty
- Institutions retain full ownership of their data.
- If a subscription ends, the school has a 30-day window to export all records.
- After that window, records are permanently deleted from LeonEd's primary clusters.
04 Information We Process
On behalf of the schools that use LeonEd, we process the information those schools enter into the platform, which may include:
- Student records such as names, demographics, enrollment details, attendance, academic results and behavioural history.
- Parent, guardian and staff contact details, roles and account information.
- Fee and payment status records.
- Technical information needed to keep the service secure, such as login activity and audit logs.
05 How Information Is Used
Information is used only to provide and improve the LeonEd service for your institution, including:
- Running school records, attendance, result processing and fee management.
- Giving parents, teachers and students secure access to their portals.
- Sending announcements, reminders and updates on the school's behalf.
- Providing technical support and keeping the platform secure.
06 Sharing & Disclosure
LeonEd does not sell school, student or parent data. Information is shared only with authorized users within your institution, with service providers who help us operate the platform under confidentiality obligations, or where disclosure is required by law.
07 Children's Data
Much of the data on LeonEd relates to students who are minors. This data is entered and controlled by the school, is visible only to authorized personnel and the student's linked parents or guardians, and is protected by the safeguards described above. 08 Your Rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and other applicable law, individuals can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict, port or object to the processing of their personal data. Because schools control the records they enter into LeonEd, parents, students and staff should send these requests to their school first. We will help the school respond. 09 Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where changes are significant, notify school administrators.
